Entrusted by Hanban(Confucius Institute Headquarters), our school hosted the Australia Summer Camp of 40 students and 5 teachers successfully from Sep.16th
to Sep.29th. On Sep. 17th, the Opening Ceremony of Summer Camp was held in our Centennial Auditorium. Principal Liu Hu gave a rousing welcome speech and
Mr. Craig (Da Shan) ,the group leader, expressed their sincere gratitude. The Head of Division of Teaching Materials of Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters),Mr Yang Jincheng, attended the Opening Ceremony, and made a warm speech. During their stay in the apartment on the campus, the Australian students learned Chinese Language and culture, such as Chinese Calligraphy, Taiji, paper cutting and so on. They also involved in our Math and computer classes with Chinese students and competed with Chinese students at our school’s Annual Sports Meeting. Their visit to scenic spots and historical sites in Beijing and Xi’an, such as Imperial Palace , Temple of Heaven, Terracotta Museum, has made them experience Chinese history and culture more deeply. On weekends, the Australian students stayed with Chinese studetns’ families and experienced real life in Being.
On Sep.28th , the Closing Ceremony of Summer Camp Sino-Australia Students presentation performance was held in our Centennial Auditorium.The Vice-director
of Hanban(Confucius Institute Headquarters),Mr. Ma Jianfei, accompanied by Mr Yang Jincheng, watched the splendid performance. Vice-director Ma spoke highly of the summer camp. He said this Summer Camp would set a good example for the future similar activities. Hanban(Confucius Institute Headquarters) and our school exchanged souvenir with Australian delegation. At the end of the Closing Ceremony, Vice-director Ma and Principal Liu came to the stage to have a group photo taken with Sino-Australia Students and teachers.
Although two weeks’ study tour is very short, it will leave unforgettable memories to Sino-Australia Students. Sino-Australia Students have expanded their horizon, promoted friendship with each other. The Summer Camp has greatly enhanced the Australian students’ knowledge of Chinese language and culture, which will motivate and inspire them to continue with their studies of Chinese well into the future. They will make more valuable contributions to conveying the charm of the Chinese culture.
